The inevitable occurred faster than anyone imagined. Coachella 2011 is sold out just 7 days after the official lineup was announced. It's a record for the Southland music festival.
If you thought Muse last year was awesome, this year will be awesomer with Kanye West, PJ Harvey, Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, The Strokes, Lauryn Hill, and Brandon Flowers. Last year featured a hefty dose of popular cult acts, but this year's cult acts are even bigger with Interpol having filled the Greek and The Fox in Pomona on consecutive nights, hot locals Neon Trees returning, and Duran Duran making a comeback. Some are Grammy nominated, such as Cee Lo Green for Record of the Year.
Car camping and tent camping are also sold out. Anyone who hesitated at all must be kicking themselves. They even had a layaway plan to make it easy for people to front the cost of a $295 ticket for the whole festival. As of 2010 people were required to purchase a 3 day pass instead of allowing single day passes. This could be part of the reason for the quick sellout.
Safari tent camping at nearby Lake El Dorado is still available but rather expensive starting at $1000 for the weekend.
